B2. Resurrection of dead believers first Resurrection from the dead is one of the key messages from the Bible. In the gospel record of John, chapter 5, the Lord Jesus says: (v 28 - 29) "Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice, and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.” Those people with a proper knowledge of God, but who have passed away will be resurrected back to life by Jesus when he returns. In 1 Thessalonians we are told that this will happen before those believers who are alive at the time know that Jesus has returned. 1 Thessalonians 4 v 15 - 16 says: "For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first". These resurrected followers gather with Jesus.
