D3. Jesus Reigns Over the Earth. Jesus will reign over the Earth as a righteous and just king. Back to Zechariah 14 again. This time verses 9 to 11: "And the LORD shall be King over all the earth. In that day it shall be—"The LORD is one," and His name one. All the land shall be turned into a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be raised up and inhabited in her place from Benjamin’s Gate to the place of the First Gate and the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananeel to the king’s winepresses. The people shall dwell in it; and no longer shall there be utter destruction, but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited." The Lord Jesus will reign over ALL the earth, says v9. What an amazing thought. And no longer will there be utter destruction. The people of Israel will be able to dwell safely – something they’ve never really been able to do in their entire history. Verses 12 to 15 then describe the nasty things that will happen to the survivors of those who fought against Jesus and the saints. Verse 16 then continues: “And it shall come to pass [that] everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.” So the nations who didn’t fight against Jesus will hand over their rule to Jesus, and will worship Jesus and the Lord God in the new World order – a kingdom of harmony and peace.
